9 New Hidden Indie Gems of February 2023

Welcome to the second half of my dive into February’s indie release schedule to find the games you might not know about, but really should.

Raid on Taihoku

Sayoko lives in the Japanese colonised Taipei near the end of WWII and loses her memories when the US B-24 Liberators raided the city. Accompanied by her dog, blacky, she has to survive along with the other survivors, witnessing the horrors of wars and her own memories.

Raid on Taihoku, releases on the 16th of february on Steam.

Elderand

Glory and riches await those who can spill the required blood and guts to collect it.

Test your skills on this Lovecraftian-inspireed Metroidvania. Wield an arsenal of weapons and spells to find your unique fighting style, and collect hints to find out more about the bloody and mad darkness taking hold of the world.

With a demo available, Elderand releases on the 16th of February on Steam, Epic games store and Nintendo Switch.

Loretta

Loretta is a psychological thriller through the eyes of a murderer. Loretta falls into a nightmare of depravity as she handles her husband’s infidelity and regains her own agency. Every choice you make determines how twisted and murderous her spiral becomes.

Loretta releases on the 16th of february on Steam, GOG, and Epic game store.

Evil Below

The Wolf calls your name, has your daughter, and won’t let you leave.

Find your child and survive in this world filled with dark creatures, and use your voice (microphone), to fight and solve the riddles of the land.

Evil below releases on the 17th of February on Steam and Playstation.

The End Is Nahual

I don’t know how to describe this game. It’s a game about nothing, or at least the idea of ‘nothing’, there’s failed Nahual queen murder plots, a potential anhiliation of humanity. There’s a Steve, and there’s a Jacob.

Have fun.

The End is Nahual (If I may say so), releases on the 17th of February on Steam.

Planet Cube: Edge

Planet cube is being invaded, but Edge, a squared-headed lab technician, won’t leave without a fight. With the help of co-workers and experimental weapons, he’ll have to fight through hordes of enemies to discover the goal of the mysterious invaders.

Planet cube: Edge, releases on the 23rd of February on Steam, Xbox, Play Station and Nintendo switch.

The Pale Beyond

A polar expedition game in an unforgiving wasteland. You’re forced to take command after the captain disappeared, faced with the burden of the survival of the entire crew. Every decision matters, because the ice doesn’t care.

With a demo available The Pale beyond releases on the 24th of February on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.

Scars Above

Earth is stunned when its inhabitants look up to see a massive alien structure in its orbit. Humans name it ‘the Metahedron’, and send a team of scientists to investigate. Amongst them is Kate. Far from being a soldier, she still has to take up arms along with her scientific knowledge to survive when transported to an extrasolar planet.

Scars above releases on the 28th of february on Steam, Xbox, and Playstation.
