I put ‘Planet of Lana’ on my wishlist, and so should you.

Featured in Time's 'The 40 most anticipated games of 2022' along with Elden Ring and Star Field, Wishfully Studio's 'Planet of Lana' has managed to charm the entire world with its trailer alone.

In it, we see Mui, a cat-like animal playing in an idyllic, hand-painted alien landscape. They are joined by who we assume to be Lana, and the two play together, unaware of bombs fallings from the sky, breaking the illusion of peace. What follows is a glimpse of a cinematic puzzle adventure spanning multiple centuries and even galaxies, where bravery is found in even the smallest creatures.

Wishfully Studios is pushing to be a strong contender for the Best Debut award as the Swedish studio pulls no punches on art, storytelling, and design.

“We are always striving to make games that leave a lasting impact” the studio says, and with Planet of Lana, they seem to be true to their words.

The Hand painted scenery coupled with the unity engine gives the game a unique style you just want to print out and put on your wall to stare at all day. I personally cannot wait to visit new planets and spend hours just exploring and taking in all the work put in to create such stunning visuals.

The perfect way to create an atmosphere is with music, and on that front, Wishfully serves us quality on a silver platter.

Takeshi Furukawa, a BAFTA-nomminated composer with a backlog working with Star Trek, Star Wars, and Sony’s The Last Guardian, is the perfect fit for this unique Sci-Fi tale.

Later this year, the world will rush to solve the puzzles and platforming of this future indie darling, and lose itself in the vast universe of this side-scroller adventure on Xbox and PC.

And yes, you can pet Mui.

I personally have it in my wishlist so I can play it on release day.

What about you?
